The Big Guy with whom The Buck Stops. Tim's been in IT for over 10 years now, which officially makes him an old hand. Originally involved in a retail environment Tim progressed from hardware to helpdesk to software and finally to consultancy. These days he is more focussed on assisting clients realise the potential of what properly designed and developed software can do for their company, organisation or department. In his spare time Tim enjoys skiing down mountains that are far too steep for his ability or trying to look useful on the soccer pitch, all while trying to keep up with his 4yr old son.
There are currently about a dozen of us at SAFI, which we find is large enough for us to be able to provide a robust service to customers that doesn't depend too heavily on individuals, and small enough for us to retain that level of personal contact that, we believe, is so vital to delivering these types of services effectively.
Here are the guys you're likely to talk to.
Accounting, C#.NET development, Project Management. Can this guy do everything? David's IT experience goes back to VB6 days, which makes him middle-aged in IT terms. He joined SAFI in 2006 from KPMG London, where he led large software consulting projects for accountants, including a high-pressured NZ$4m project for Barclays Global Bank. He still develops, mainly in C# with ASP.NET, and is technical enough to not just know about but also have opinions on acronyms like DDD, TDD, BDD and ADD. (Actually the last one's nothing to do with IT.)
What do Telecoms, the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Web Hosting have in common? Toby, of course. Toby has done it all. A Bachelor of Business degree with a Management Major. Freelance business consultancy for organisations ranging from NZ to the Southern Ballet Theatre. Ongoing creative work with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. All this helps make him the ideal person to communicate effectively with the wide range of customers we can expect with a hosting service. We consider ourselves People People, but even by our standards Toby’s a People Person. (Persons Person?) Oh, and he's also really rather good at managing and sorting out hosting issues.
